The History of Hunter Insurance Group

Gaunce Robert Hunter established Hunter Insurance in Maine during the 1800s as a service to local farmers, dairies, lumbermen, loggers and their families. After Mr. Hunter passed away, his wife Amber and son Vaughn carried on the business as well as the family farm and other commercial endeavors. In 1948, Vaughn Hunter married Mary Rennebu. Together, they expanded both the farm and the insurance business. In the mid 1970s they moved to Pennsylvania and established the headquarters for Hunter Insurance in Carlisle. Soon, other offices in Pennsylvania opened along with representatives in most of the northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

As the Hunter Group grows and expands into commercial, auto, personal, life, construction and the other areas; the company still maintains a focus on agriculture and personal and honest professionalism that has been handed down from generation to generation.

That kind of commitment to customer service and industry expertise has meant that Hunter Insurance has been recognized numerous times on local, state and national levels for their knowledge, experience and dedication to the insurance industry, their clients and the communities that they serve.

Looking to the future with great optimism, the Hunter Group continues to grow and expand, backed by the never-ending promise to serve their clientele and maintain the professional ethics and principles on which the company was founded.
